5 Wines to Try this Summer

After a year of going through masks, isolation, and a virtual world, we are ready to get back together and celebrate life. Hence, the criteria to pick the 5 wines to try this summer were that they had to be refreshing and great to pair with celebratory moments of life and togetherness. Are these wines an expression of celebratory life moments and togetherness? For sure, they are.  

Sella & Mosca La Cala Vermentino 2020 (750ml/$15.99) from Italy

Sella & Mosca La Cala Vermentino takes its name from “La Cala” – one of the most serene coastlines in Sardinia. Vermentino one of the 5 wines for summer has, in the glass, pale yellow with hints of green and gold color. Aromas of citrus, tropical fruits, and white flowers. Medium acidity with aromas also presents in the palate and lingering finish. Transport yourself to the luxuriant Mediterranean with this fresh and floral wine, perfect for sipping through spring and into summer. Great for celebrations with friends, pair this with light seafood fares such as shrimp and mussels.


Domane Wachau Grüner Veltliner Federspiel Terrassen 2020 ($17.99) from Austria.

Domaine Wachau Federspiel Terrasen is 100% Grüner Veltliner from the wine growing region Wachau in Austria. Grüner Veltliner is a must in the 5 wines for summer. In the glass, this wine shines with pale yellow and hints of light green. Fresh aromas on the nose of green and yellow apples and herbs. On the palate, white flowers, citrus, and tangerine. Soft acidity with a fruity and spicy finish. Great for summer holiday family celebrations, pair this with grilled vegetables and enchilada casserole.


Veramonte Chardonnay 2019 ($11.99) from Chile 

Veramonte Wines from Valle de Aconcagua Chile are a gem. This Chardonnay is a summer wine that can carry onto fall. The cool climate, their efforts towards sustainability and the quality price of this wines have amazed many of us already. This Chardonnay 2019 is light amber with reflections of gold. Great for everyday family dinner, pair with sausage based plates or grilled salmon.

Château de La Chaize Brouilly 2017 (750ml/$27.99) from France

A light-bodied red sourced from the historic Beaujolais Cru- Brouilly, this is the perfect transition summer wine to follow you from the crisp cool spring into the warm summer weather. In the glass ruby color with hints of purple. Aromas of red fruits and nutmeg. Medium acidity and lively finish. Great for summer afternoons with friends and family, pair with wild mushrooms and artisanal cheeses. I recommend enjoying Chateau de La Chaize with a slight chill.     I’m not a huge wine drinker but my sister in law loved wine so this is super helpful because it’s her birthday in a few weeks! Thanks for sharing, I definitely think she would like Veramonte Chardonnay.
