Hello! My name is Martha, but my best friends have been calling me WineDivaa since college. I am not just a wine writer, content creator, and Sommelier. I am a true advocate for a diverse wine industry. In this regard, Wine Enthusiast recognized me as an advocate in the Wine Industry for diversity on their Future 40 Features.
As a technology engineer with a master’s degree in information science, I seamlessly fuse my tech expertise with my passion for wine. I am an advocate for the intersection of wine and technology.
As an multifaceted entrepreneur, I am the founder of Latinas Wine Club Inc. A community and technological platform with a unique approach to wine education. Our initiative, ‘Educate, Empower, and Elevate Through Wine, ‘is a testament to my leadership and vision. Hence, we believe in making wine education accessible and inclusive, breaking down the barriers that often deter individuals from exploring the world of wine.
Moreover, this endeavor positions me as one of the few rising Latina Wine Educators in the Northeast. On this endeavor, I joined the roaster of instructors at Astor Center in the Winter of 2025.
I believe that wines need to be accessible for everyone, hence my moto and mission “Vino es para todos” (“Wine is for everyone”).
My work addresses a significant gap in the industry, recognizing that while Latinos are a rapidly growing demographic with immense buying power, they are often underestimated in the world of wine and luxury items overall. Moreover, as a professionals we are underrepresented.
The Court Master of Sommeliers awarded me a Scholarship to complete the Sommelier Level 1, further fueling my passion. I also hold a merit WSET 2 diploma, Sherry Wine Specialist, and a Cava Educator certificate. Above all the diplomas, I am a true wine lover.
How Did I Get Into Wine?
My upbringing in Mexico lacked wine. Our table always graced by beer or tequila. However, my time studying in Madrid and Barcelona sparked a reconnection with my Spanish heritage and a profound discovery of the world of wine.
My travels and time in Spain changed my life.
Therefore, I decided to learn more about wine, read back labels, and share my wine journey on the digital realm.
From a non-wine culture to a passionate wine enthusiast, this personal odyssey is a testament to the transformative power of wine and its ability to inspire us all.
What I did start as leisure it has become a real endeavor. I have come a long way. As an author, I published my first book in the Fall of 2023. Mexican Wines a A Guide to Fall in Love with Wines of Mexico is available in Amazon in USA, Mexico, Spain and all throughout Latin America.
I have hosted more than 50 online classes and around 20 in person events in New York and Texas in the course of the last five years. I have supported many wine consortiums and brands in telling their story to an audience that is often overlooked.
