Taub Family Vineyards: Leading the way

Taub Family Selections has been in the wine import and wholesale business for years. Nowadays, the third generation is leading the way. I am always amazed by their selection of wine imports, whether their Prosecco, Pinot Noir, or Beaujolais. In other words, I trust their flavor profile assessment. Through the years, I have enjoyed the media packages that I have received from them.

I read somewhere that they were producing wine. I was very intrigued. Therefore, I immediately responded yes when I received an email invite to join the Taub Family during an intimate media event hosted by Jake Taub. Without hesitation, I knew I had to attend. During the tasting hosted at Temperance Wine Bar in Lower Manhattan, we enjoyed wines from renowned, award-winning labels: Saracina and Taub Family Vineyards.

Taub Family Vineyards

Taub Family Vineyards was born out of a dream four generations in the making. Mr. Marc D. Taub, the third generation, grew up with a deep appreciation for the art of winemaking and had a vision of one day making his wines. In 2013, Taub Family Vineyards became a reality when Mr. Taub, who works side by side with his son Jake, acquired Napa Valley producer Heritance – which later evolved to Taub Family Vineyards.

We enjoyed a variety of premier wines from Taub Family Vineyards during the tasting. Mainly, I was very impressed by Taub Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard 2017 (SRP $125). They said the excellent wine came in small batches. For instance, Taub Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard 2017 was proof of it. There was a small production of 260 cases. This bold red Cab has a great aromatic profile. It showcases red stone fruits, black plums, and secondary flavors of tobacco and anise. I confirmed the aromas, layers of flavors, and mild tannins on the palate that made it an unforgettable rounded wine. Perhaps it was the occasion or the intimate experience, but I will never forget that wine moment. This premium wine is excellent to drink now or to age.

Saracina Vineyards

Since the Taub Family took over the Certified California Sustainable Saracina winery and vineyard, I’ve read great accolades about their Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. I found their whites very enjoyable. Stainless steel fermented with pronounced fruit and flavors profile but with great acidity almost becoming that subtle hint of lemon we crave in our seafood or light fare.

Old Soul - Saracina Vineyards

I also enjoyed their Soul Red Blend 2018 from Mendocino (SRP $25). It was a red blend with bright fruit and herbaceous mid-palate, mild acidity and medium tannins. The perfect medium body wine for the Holidays.

Leading the way

Mr. Taub, was named the person of the year by Wine Enthusiast Magazine. The 2021 edition of Wine Stars of the renowned wine magazine gave him the higher credit. Moreover, Mr. Taub is genuinely a lead and an innovator in the wine business. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the opportunity to meet him at the event, but meeting Jake Taub, his son reflected him. Jake Taub came accross as a very laid back, approachable and wise wine businessman. We had a open conversation about being a newcomer on the wine industry. Last, but not least, he was very supportive and a great listener.

I am honored to have experienced their wines this year. I can’t wait to see how their Cabernet Sauvignon develops with age and potential. Also, I can’t emphasize enough, but their Chardonnay offers a different California white wine. Perhaps will be a staple of the new and much-needed California style.
