Even though The NoMad hotel’s doors have closed, their legacy in the world of mixology lives on through . They crafted exceptional concoctions as we recall “El Eclipse” cocktail . El Eclipse was initially crafted by this iconic hotel and restaurant The NoMad in New York City. The drink is named for the moon’s color during an eclipse. On the flavor side is a mildly sweet accentuated by berry flavors. The profile color is truly captivating and brings the color of a peak eclipse. In regards of the recipe, there are many variants. For instance, the recipe on Liquor.com suggests adding cherry liqueur to the original recipe enhanced flavor.
Inspired by the original concoction of El Eclipse, I decided to take a slightly different approach. I tweaked the original recipe of eclipse cocktail and created my own ” El eclipse de abril “. El eclipse de abril has a more tart finish. I opted for tart strawberry soda instead of cherry liqueur. This added more fizz and a hint of sourness to my version of the drink. Moreover, it turned out to be a delightful and refreshing concoction.
Eclipse de abril is a testament to the enduring spirit of innovation that defined the hotel’s bar program. I have given a new life with a subtle twist that we believe enhances its unique character. Now keep reading to get the recipe.
