Monte Xanic Sauvignon Blanc Viña Kristel

This crisp and refreshing white wine has green apple, citrus, and honey notes. Available here.

Tres Raíces Rosé

Let me introduce you to a personal favorite, the Tres Raíces Rosé. I’ve recommended this gem in my book, ‘Mexican Wines: A Guide to Fall in Love with Wines of México ‘. The blend of Grenache and Caladoc creates a Rosé with berry and floral aromas, which are also present on the palate. A hint of spices adds a unique touch, making it a perfect match for lighter meals and snacks.

Bichi Pet Mex

For those who enjoy natural fermentation and enjoy kombucha, this is a wine for you. Pet Mex is super refreshing and delightful. Made from unknown grapes (we suspect is Grenache Blend) Bichi Pet Mex is produced using traditional, organic methods in Tecate, Baja California, resulting in a wine that truly reflects the terroir and passion of its producers.

Casa Madero 3V

This full-bodied blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Tempranillo has flavors of dark fruit, chocolate, and spices, making it an excellent pairing for grilled meats or hearty pasta dishes.

RGMX Naranja

A skin-contact fermented wine of the grape Palomino that thrives in the Parras Valley in Coahuila. Aromas of orange peel, dried fruits, and brioche are also present in the palate, with a creamy finish paired with nuts, snacks, and light creamy pasta. Buy here.

Best Mexican Brunch in East Village

We had the pleasure of experiencing these wines firsthand at the Mexican Wine Brunch on Cinco de Mayo at La Contenta Oeste in the East Village in New York. This vibrant event was a celebration of the rich diversity of Mexican wines and their perfect pairings with traditional Mexican brunch dishes. The menu was a delightful mix of appetizers like nachos and guacamole, and main plates including Chilaquiles, Tacos de Pescado (Fish Tacos), and Eggs Benedict with Poblano Pepper Salsa. It was an authentic Mexican culinary experience that showcased the use of fresh ingredients, inspiring us to recreate these dishes at home.

Brunch at home

Mexican brunch has to include beans, eggs, and salsa. Try to experiment with some of the suggestions above, make your own, and pair them with Mexican wines. And please, don’t stop here! Use this guide as a starting point to explore and experiment with Mexican wines. Who knows, you might discover your new favorite. I hope this guide inspires you to try different Mexican wines when you have brunch.
