Travel has always been more than just ticking off destinations on a bucket list for me; it’s about collecting experiences, weaving a tapestry of memories, and most importantly, a journey of self-discovery. I’ve always believed in the old adage, “All roads lead to Rome.” And while my path has taken many detours and scenic routes, it has, in a way, always circled back to the Eternal City.
I remember vividly the bittersweet moment I left Barcelona, a city that had embraced me with its vibrant energy and captivating culture. As I bid farewell to the Gaudi masterpieces and sun-kissed beaches, I made a silent vow to myself: “I will return to Rome.”
Life, as it often does, presented opportunities and adventures that took me elsewhere (Hola New York!). Even though I traveled to other places in Europe, I wandered through the bustling streets of London, marveling at its iconic landmarks and cosmopolitan charm. I basked in the sun-drenched islands of Greece, captivated by their azure waters and ancient ruins. Each destination left an indelible mark on my heart, enriching my understanding of the world and myself.

Yet, the pull of Rome never faded. It was a persistent whisper, a promise waiting to be fulfilled. And so, when the time finally came to return to Italy, my heart was filled with a sense of anticipation and the sweet return to a promise I made to my younger self.
Stepping onto Roman soil felt like a reunion with an old friend. The familiar cobblestone streets, the majestic Colosseum, the enchanting Trevi Fountain – they all greeted me with a warm embrace. It was as if the city itself had been patiently waiting for my return.
Wandering through the ancient ruins, I felt a profound connection to the past, a sense of awe at the resilience and ingenuity of those who came before us. The vibrant energy of the piazzas, filled with laughter and conversation, reminded me of the simple joys of human connection. And the breathtaking beauty of the Vatican City, with its awe-inspiring architecture and spiritual significance, left me speechless.
Returning to Rome after 15 years was more than just fulfilling a promise; it was a testament to the transformative power of travel. It reminded me that even when life takes us on unexpected detours, there’s a certain magic in returning to a place that holds a special meaning, a place that calls to our soul.

“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.” – Ernest Hemingway
As I continue my journey through life, I carry the lessons learned and the memories made in Rome with me. And while I know there will be countless other destinations to explore, there’s a part of me that will always long to return to the Eternal City, to the place where all roads lead, and where my heart rejoice.
