You certainly can’t deny that the world of wine can be extremely tricky. You can find yourself getting confused and not knowing which bottle is going to be the best bottle for your party. If you’re not somebody who drinks wine very often then it’s even worse.
A lot of us just end up buying a random bottle of wine and thinking I’ll take that one but if you want to make sure that you are taking the best bottle of wine, have a look at these tips below:
Avoid The Big Names
You will often find that the best wines are not the big names. It’s kind of similar to when you go to a small intimate friendly restaurant you can have a better experience rather than going to big names who just cram a lot of people and serve you as quickly as possible. The big-named wines are often designed to appeal to the biggest possible audience, this means they’re very generic and they’re not the best. If you want to make a real impression then have a look at some of the smaller bands and go for the independent wineries who have to fight to get their name out there.
Keep An Eye On The Price
It is a complete myth that if you pay for an expensive bottle of wine it’s going to be the best quality. You may find that the most expensive bottle of wine that’s on the list is one of the ones that has the highest markup. This in turn makes that the cheapest bottle of wine that is available. When you are looking for serve wine bottles, look for the ones that are an average price and look for ones that are a bit lower on the label than what’s listed on the label in the shop. If you’re not familiar with the taste of wine then try to stick to the middle range where they’re not too expensive but not too cheap and you will normally be fine.
Think About Food
It can make you feel overwhelmed when you’ve been invited for dinner or you’re at a restaurant and you’re going to be drinking wine with your food. It can be difficult to choose the right wine and chances are you need more time to learn how to choose the right one. As a rule of thumb just be careful of how flavored your food is going to be before you pick your wine. If you have a light dish then go for a white wine or light-body red and if you’re eating a spicy or a meaty dish then you’ll want to have a deep or full-body wine.
These few tips should help you when it comes to choosing the next bottle of wine for your party. Do you have any other tips you think could help please share them in the comments below.
